CSI: NY High School Style Ch. 13
Chapter 13: Monday, November 1, 2010
It was a typical Monday morning at school. As the bell rang, high schoolers everywhere were rushing to get to their homeroom class. There was one particular homeroom class however, that Danny was eager to get to. That was his homeroom with Mr. Waters. Normally, he could care less about which class he had. But this year was different. In September, a new girl from Montana came to NYCS. Her name was Lindsay Monroe. She had changed his life. He couldn’t seem to get her out of his mind. But, for the first time in his life, Danny was nervous to ask a girl out. So, to hide his nervousness, he kept on being the mean jock he had always been. And he tried extra hard to get on Montana’s nerves. That was his nickname for Lindsay. She hated the name, yet he kept on calling her by that name.
As he walked into homeroom, he saw his Flack and Hawkes talking to Jess, Lindsay, and Stella. “Yeah!, isn’t that funny?”, Hawkes asked. Lindsay nodded even though it was kind of hard because she was laughing too hard. Danny walked over. “Flack, can I talk to you for a second?”, he asked. Flack nodded and followed Danny to his desk. “What’s up, man?”, Flack asked. “I don’t know. Ever since I broke up with Cindy, I have been feeling kinda weird”, Danny said. “Dude, you need to get yourself a girlfriend. There are plenty of girls in this school that like you and are cute. I am sure one of them would go out with you”, Flack replied. “Um…excuse me. Everybody can you please get in a seat. My name is Ms. Jones. Mr. Waters is not here today so I am your substitute. Pay attention to your morning announcements and then after you can talk until the bell rings”, the substitute teacher said.
During PE, the class was playing volleyball. Coach Messer split them up into groups of six. One group was Danny, Hawkes, Flack, Jason, Tyler, and Mac. Another was Cindy, Haylen, Jess, Lindsay, Stella, and Kara. The next was Stanton, Adam, Brianna, Peyton, and Kendall. Cindy did not want to be in a group with Lindsay and Jess. She blamed them for her breakup with Danny. It had been almost a whole month. They had been dating for two years and he broke up with her. That made her so mad. BOOM! The volleyball just hit her in the head. “OMG, I am so sorry”, Peyton said while trying not to laugh. Cindy just ignored her. Since Danny broke up with her, she wasn’t in the mood to be mean anymore. Kendall looked at Peyton. What was up with Cindy?
After PE, Danny was walking with Hawkes when he saw Lindsay. Wow, she looked amazing. “Dude, do you like Lindsay?”, Hawkes asked. “What?!?! No, I do not like Lindsay. Why would you think that?”, Danny replied. Hawkes shrugged and said, “I don’t know. Guess I was just wondering. Hey dude, I think I like Kara.” Danny said, “Then ask her out on a date.” Hawkes smiled. “Yeah, I think I might do that”, he said and then walked away. Danny sighed. He has got to get over this Lindsay situation.
Lindsay was standing by her locker in free period when Jess and Stella walked up. “Guess what Flack just told me?”, Jess said. “What?”, Lindsay asked. “Hawkes and Kara are dating now. He asked her to be his girlfriend”, Jess said. “Oh. Good for Kara”, Lindsay replied. “And it’s about time too. She has been crushing on Hawkes since eighth grade”, Stella said. Lindsay smiled weakly. “Okay, Lindsay, what is up”, Jess asked. Lindsay had been acting weird all week. She was starting to get concerned. “What are you talking about? I am fine”, Lindsay said. Stella rolled her eyes. “You know more than anyone else that there is something is up with you”, she said. Lindsay slammed her locker shut. “I am fine!”, she exclaimed frustrated and then walked away. Jess looked at Stella.
Lindsay walked into the gym. She didn’t expect anyone to be there. She was wrong. She saw Cindy and Pete. They were kissing. Wow, in PE, Cindy looked so sad about Danny. Now, she is kissing Pete? That didn’t make since to Lindsay. She walked out of the gym and went into the library. “So, do you really think this will work, Pete?”, Cindy asked. Pete nodded. “Definitely. If we date, it will make Danny jealous. I get the satisfaction of seeing him mad and you will get Danny back because he will realize that he misses you”, he said. Cindy smiled. Finally, she can get her boyfriend back.
In the library, Lindsay was doing her biology homework. Mr. Hammerback was making them write a five-paragraph essay on the anatomy of a shrimp. A shrimp. Out of all things, he picked a shrimp. He was so strange sometimes. She laughed out loud. “What could possibly be so funny about the anatomy of a shrimp?”, a voice said from behind her. She turned around and saw Danny there. “The fact that Mr. Hammerback is crazy enough to make us write an essay on the anatomy of a shrimp”, Lindsay replied. Danny laughed then sat down next to her. Lindsay tensed up. Danny noticed. “Are you alright?”, he asked. She nodded. “You know you aren’t that good at hiding your emotions, right? Anyone can tell that obviously you are not alright”, he said. “If you can already tell that I am not alright, why did you ask me if I was then? That doesn’t make any sense”, she said. “Well, it would be rude just to flat out say there is something wrong with you”, he replied. Lindsay just looked back down at her paper. Danny put his hand on her shoulder. “Lindsay, are you sure there is nothing wrong?”, he asked. Lindsay sighed. “I saw Cindy kissing Pete in the gym”, she blurted out. Danny was quiet. “Are you sure?”, he asked. Lindsay nodded. Danny sighed. “Not that I mean to intrude or anything, but do you really even care that she was kissing Pete? I mean, you were the one to break up with her”, Lindsay said. Danny answered with, “Yeah, I broke up with her but I did date her for two years. I still care about her and Pete is a horrible guy. I don’t want her to get hurt.” “Oh”, Lindsay said. Then, the bell rang. They got up and walked to Spanish together.
Cindy was talking to Haylen when she saw Danny and Lindsay walk into the classroom together. Lindsay sat next to Jess and Danny sat next to Flack. She growled quietly. But then she thought, it could just be coincidence that they showed up at Spanish at the exact same time. Flack couldn’t help but notice how Lindsay and Danny showed up to Spanish at the same time. Maybe there was something going on between those two? Danny noticed Flack staring at him. “Man, could you mind staring at something rather then my face?”, he asked. Flack said sorry and then proceeded to take out last night’s Spanish homework.
